Univaja reports disappearance and Federal Government begins search
The disappearance of Dom Phillips and Bruno Pereira is reported by the Union of Indigenous Peoples of Vale do Javari (União dos Povos Indígenas do Vale do Javari/Univaja).
Brazil’s Federal Government immediately launches search and rescue operations with men from the Brazilian Army, Navy, Federal Police, National Public Security Force and National Indigenous Foundation (Fundação Nacional do Índio/Funai).

Federal Police arrest another suspectThe Brazilian Federal Police arrest another suspect. Temporary arrest of Oseney da Costa de Oliveira – also known as “dos Santos” –, 41, is decreed by the Judiciary.
Wednesday – June 15, 2022
The Federal Police holds a press conference to announce that “human remains” were found in a place indicated by one of the suspects who confessed to the crime.
Thursday – June 16, 2022
The Federal Police sends the remains to Brasilia for forensic analysis.
Friday – June 17, 2022
The searches for suspects and the forensic work continue.The forensic team from the Federal Police rapidly identifies that the biological material found belongs to journalist Dom Phillips.

The Federal Police arrested a third suspect involved in the case.
